It’s the Duxford September Airshow, and the Red Arrows are there…very good!…
It’s a little bit blustery – don’t forget your ear defenders Rosebud!…
…
Aimee’s too scared to look!…
…
Quite close…

Smoke gets in your eyes…

Close manoeuvres…

Nice smoke trails

It was freezing, but this group were well prepared – they even had a bbq on the go…

The Renault F1 team were testing at Duxford last wee, so Jonny went along. There was quite a bit of runway time, albeit very stop and start…so here’s some of my snaps
Very warm…
Who says mid-season Formula 1 testing spoils the rural quiet of village life?…
On the runway…
Ross Brawn’s put a bit of weight on lately ain’t he?…
This is as close as I got to the driver. Looks like Romain Grosjean…
Then me, and Ross, got distracted…
Now, she is a beast…
How close are those rotors to the cockpit?…
I was struggling to stay stood up when she took off…
Old and new…
Poor pics really aren’t they? Must’ve had a crack in my lens…
If you can stand any more then there’s more Renault photos here, and more Apache photos here.
Freezing and wet, so only Jonny went today. None of the fast stuff hung around for very long, because of the cloud cover I reckon…still just occasionally I did get a nice image…
…and this one! Click on it for more shots…
Also, had the high speed camera with me. As you look at these two helicopters taken at 600 frames per second try and guess which one is nearest the camera when they get close to one another…
Sunday 7th September and it’s the Duxford 90th airshow. We could only go on the Sunday and, as it was wet, Jonny went on his own. It was very damp, but Jonny perservered as he wanted to see the Vulcan. He found a new spot closer to the action, but got disappointed as the Vulcan was cancelled. Still there’s some good stuff here…click for more…
We went along to the airshow on Sunday for an hour as it was reasonable weather. Jonny only wanted to see the Eurofighter but, having slept through the Red Arrows last time, Aimee Rose didn’t enjoy the loud noise this time round…click for more…
We took Aimee to the Duxford September airshow, just to see the Red Arrows really, and didn’t she just love every minute? Of course not – some times the aircraft were 50-100 feet above us and she slept through it all!
Some decent Red Arrows snaps can be found by clicking on this photo…
Jonny’s been busy adding pictures from all the aishows at Duxford he’s pictured over the past few years. Click on these thumbnails to take you to the snaps from individual shows…
